Abstract:Objective: To study the Young’s modulus of parotid gland with primary Sjogren’s syndrome(pSS) by real-time shear wave elastography(SWE) and to explore its value in the diagnosis of parotid gland with pSS. Methods: Thirty-five patients with pSS and 35 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. The bilateral parotid gland were examined by SWE, and the Young’s modulus was obtained. The differences in Young’s modulus between the left and right sides of the parotid gland and between the pSS group and the non-pSS group were analyzed. Results: The Young’s modulus between two sides of parotid glands in pSS group or non-pSS group showed no significant differences(P>0.05). The difference of Young’s modulus between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: SWE can be applied to evaluate parotid gland status with pSS.
