Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effects of embolization of the uterine artery with KMG for uterine leiomyoma. Materials and Methods: Thirty-five patients with uterine leiomyoma were treated by uterine artery embolization(UAE) with KMG. The patients were followed up from 6 to 20 months to observe the changes of leiomyoma size and symptom improvement after the procedure. Results: Bilateral embolization of the uterine arteries was performed in all patients, clinical improvement was observed in 86.2%(25/29) patients, especially in menses resumption. The mean reduction of myoma and uterine volume was 49.3% and 42.1% respectively at six months after embolization. Postembolization syndrome was seen in almost all patients, no serious adverse reaction was observed. Conclusion: Uterine artery embolization with KMG is an effective and safe therapeutic procedure for leiomyoma.
