Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical value of spiral CT with MIP and 3D-SSD reconstruction in traumatic fracture of non-calcified costal cartilage of cattle. Methods: First, make the model of cattle of non-calcified costal cartilage. Ten fresh non-calcified costal cartilages with inter costal muscle were obtained from cattle killed within 3 hours. And the costal cartilages were examined by spiral CT, MIP and 3D-SSD reconstruction. Secondly, the costal cartilage in 33 clinical cases were studied. Results: The diagnostic sensibility of spiral CT in non-calcified costal cartilage of human individual is 93.54%, accurate rate is 93.93%, positive predictive value is 93.54%, false positive rate 3%, false negative rate is 3%. Conclusion: Spiral CT associated with MIP and 3D-SSD reconstruction have important clinical value in the diagnosis of traumatic fracture of non-calcified costal cartilage.
