Abstract Objective: To analyse the MR manifestations of subacute combined degeneration of the cervical spinal cord(SCD), and to improve the understanding of SCD. Methods: The findings of MRI were analyzed retrospectively in 5 patients with clinically confirmed SCD. The clinical symptoms were also analyzed. Results: All five cases demonstrated high signal intensity on T2WI in the posterior and/or lateral column of the cervical spinal cord, and ribbon-like high signal intensity along dorsal aspect of the cervical spinal cord on sagittal T2WI. Patchy enhancement were noted in 2 cases. Conclusion: The characteristic appearance of SCD in cervical spinal cord on MRI is very helpful in diagnosis.
