Abstract Objective: To evaluate the aorta’s compliance with MRI. Methods: Sixty-three normal volunteers with different age were measured ascending aorta by phase-contrast cine MR scan. We got the time-area curves, and calculated the scores of compliance by diameter’s methods and area’s methods. Results: With increase of the age, aortic compliance reduced, the scores of compliance increase. The correlation between age and aortic compliance measured by area’s methods was better than by the diameter’s methods(r=-0.6972). MR measurement methods can be highly repetitive(r=0.91). Conclusion: MRI can be used as a better means of observation of aortic compliance.
