Abstract Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of dual source, dual energy CT(DECT) in detection of gout. Materials and Methods: Three patients with proven gout and 10 volunteers as controls were included into this study. All subjects underwent foot or hand dual source, DECT scans. The dedicated software of gout was used to analyze the presence of gout and color-coded the gout as green. The presence, number, and distribution of gout were recorded. Results: Multiple intra- and extra-ossicular gouts were discovered in bilateral feet and hands of three patients with clinically proven gout, especially in interphalangeal joint and adjacent soft tissue; while no gout was found in hands and feet of 10 controls.
