Value of speckle tracking imaging for research on myocardial reperfusion injury |

Abstract Objective: To explore the impact of reperfusion injury on myocardial systolic function by speckle tracking imaging. Methods: Left anterior descending(LAD) coronary of 20 healthy adult hybrid dogs were ligated for 180 minutes following by reperfusion for 120 minutes. Circumferential strain of basal, papillary muscle and apical level were compared by speckle tracking imaging before LAD occlusion, LAD occlusion immediately, LAD occlusion for 180 minutes, reperfusion immediately, reperfusion for 60 and 120 minutes respectively. Results: Circumferential strain of basal level decreased after reperfusion and then increased above the basic status. Circumferential strain of papillary muscle level increased after reperfusion, but it was still lower than that of the basic status without significant difference. Circumferential strain of apical level increased and it was lower than that of the basic status with significant difference. Conclusion: Speckle tracking imaging can assess the influcence of reperfusion injury on myocardial contractility objectivly and accurately, which will provide an effective index for relieving the coronary obstruction early and choose proper treatment.
