| The value of nonenhanced CT blend sign in predicting hematoma growth |

Abstract Objective: To explore the value of nonenhanced CT(NCCT) blend sign in predicting hematoma growth. Methods: Altogether 126 cerebral hemorrhage patients were enrolled in our study. All the patients underwent NCCT scan when they were hospitalized. The follow-up CT scan was preformed within 48 hours after the admission NCCT. It was assessed whether there was blend sign on admission NCCT. The volume of hematoma was compared between two examinations. Results: Blend sign was observed in 40 of 126 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage on admission NCCT scan. Of the 38 patients with hematoma growth, 30 patients had blend sign on admission NCCT scan. The volume of hematoma in the positive blend sign group was greater than that in the negative group. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of blend sign for predicting hematoma growth were 78.95%, 88.64%, 75.00% and 90.70%. Conclusion: The NCCT blend sign is of clinical value in predicting hematoma enlargement after intracerebral hemorrhage.
