Application of 256-slice CT in the diagnosis of complex congenital heart disease |

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the value of 256-slice CT in the clinical diagnosis of congenital heart disease. Methods: The 256-slice CT data of 59 patients with complex congenital heart disease(CCHD) were analyzed retrospectively and compared with the findings of echocardiography and surgery. Results: Total 267 intra- and extra-cardiac anomalies were found. Of intra-cardiac anomalies, 70.45% were identified by 256-slice CT while 96.97% of them were detected by echocardiography, with significant statistic difference(P<0.05). 91.67% of the cardiac and great vessels connecting part anomalies were identified by 256-slice CT, while 95.83% were detected by echocardiography, with no significant statistic difference(P>0.05). 93.69% of the extra-cardiac anomalies were identified by 256-slice CT, while only 74.77% were detected by echocardiography, with significant statistic difference(P<0.05). The overall diagnostic accuracy was 82.02% for 256-slice CT and 87.64% for echocardiography, with no significant statistic difference(P>0.05). Conclusion: 256-slice CT is better than echocardiography in the detection of extra-cardiac anomalies of CCHD, 256-slice CT in combination with echocardiography can significantly improve the diagnostic accuracy of CCHD in children.
