Abstract Objective: To quantitatively evaluate regional systolic myocardium function of left ventricle(LV) in patients with myocardial infarction by means of quantitative tissue velocity imaging(QTVI) and tissue tracking imaging(TTI). Methods: Twenty healthy subjects and 33 patients with myocardial infarction were studied by QTVI and TTI. Off-line LV regional velocity and displacement profiles along LV apical long-axis view, apical two-chamber view and four-chamber view were obtained synchronously, and peak velocities of LV regional myocardium during systole(Vs), and peak systolic displacement(Ds) were measured. LV ejection fraction(LVEF) was determined by 2D echocardiography using Simpson’s rule. Results: Both Vs and Ds of LV segments in myocardial infarction group(MI group) were significantly lower than those in normal control group(control group). Mean Vs(mVs) and Ds(mDs) of different segment level in MI group were lower than those of the control group. mVs and mDs in basal and middle segments level related significantly and in apical segments level did not relate to LVEF. Conclusions: The QTVI and TTI can judge the longitudinal systolic velocities and amplitudes, and is a non-invasive and quantitative method to assess systolic function of left ventricular regional myocardium.
