Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of sense-body coil on the assessment of breast mass. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients with 33 breast masses found in physical examination were examined by MR with sense-body coil and X-ray mammography. The assessment of benign or malignancy by MR results depended on signs of plain scanning and dynamic enhancing signs, the MR assessment results were compared with that of X-ray mammography. Results: The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of these four methods were: X-ray mammography was 66.7%, 87.5%, 81.8% respectively;MRI plain scanning was 66.7%, 75.0%, 72.7%; dynamic enhancement was 88.9%, 100%, 97%, respectively. Conclusion: The sense-body coil have the same value as specialized breast coil of MR imaging in the assessment of breast mass.
