Abstract:Objective: To explore the application of PET-CT in volume measurement of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis lesions, so as to improve the guiding role of imaging to surgery plans. Methods: Fifteen patients of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis underwent examination by PET-CT and the lesion volume was measured by PET-CT software before operation. The possible surgery plans were discussed and made. The predictive resection volume was measured and statistically analyzed with that of surgical specimens. Results: Out of the 15 cases, the volumes of the predictive liver resection and the operative specimen were (163.59±82.1) cm3 and (163.26±81.9) cm3 respectively, and there was no statistical difference(P=0.448). The volume of preoperative lesion was positively correlated with that of the postoperative(r=1, P=0.000 1). According to the operative resection plan established before surgery, 23 lesions in 15 patients were resected completely. Conclusion: Lesion volume measurement of hepatic alveolar echinococcus based on PET-CT could provide individual imaging basis for guiding precise lesion resection.
