Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical curative effect of high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) through perineum. Methods: The clinical effect of 18 cases of BPH treated by HIFU through perineum were observed and follow-up visit and ultrasonic inspection at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after treatment were performed. Results: The volume of prostate had no significant change after treatment(P>0.05). Each index of IPSS score, uro-flow rate and residual urine volume was statistically different from prior treatment(P<0.05) but each index at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months had no statistical difference(P>0.05). Conclusions: HIFU through perineum for BPH has the advantage of microtrauma, safe and less side effect with stable curative effect. There are different extent of improvement in clinical symptoms.
