Abstract:Objective: To study the anatomy variants and diagnostic methods for the mixed total anomalous pulmonary venous connection(TAPVC), and the value of echocardiography as a diagnostic tool for this disease. Methods: To retrospectively analyze the main imaging data for those who were diagnosed as mixed TAPVC in our tertiary center in recent 5 years. Results: Among the 17 mixed TAPVC patients, 14 were supracardiac plus cardiac, 3 were supracardiac plus infracardiac. Pulmonary venous obstruction as observed in 5 of them, all by echocardiography, and only 1 by multi-detector CT scan. Echocardiography detected all pulmonary veins precisely in 7 patients, 3 pulmonary veins correctly but 1 incorrectly in 4 patients. Conclusion: Supracardiac plus cardiac are the most common type of mixed TAPVC. The combination of echocardiography and multi-detector CT scan are the best strategy for preoperative evaluation of these patients.
