Abstract:Objective: To evaluate left ventricular(LV) long-axis diastolic function in essential hypertension(EH) patients with hypertrophy using real-time triplane strain rate imaging. Methods: Sixty-two EH patients and 35 age-matched healthy subjects as control group were included. The patients with hypertension were divided into 2 groups: 32 patients without LV hypertrophy(NLVH) and 30 patients with LV hypertrophy(LVH). Using real-time triplane stain rate imaging measured early diastolic peak strain and late diastolic peak strain rate(SRe and SRa) at basal and middle segments in different LV walls. Results: SRe of all wall in LVH and NLVH group were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01), significant difference was found between LVH and NLVH group, SRa of lateral wall(LW) and posterior wall(PW) was lower in LVH than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions: Real-time triplance strain rate imaging can quantitatively analyse LV long-axis diastolic function accurately and objectively in EH patients with LVH.
