Abstract Objective: To investigate the imaging methods of multi-slice spiral CT(MSCT?) with volume rendering technique(VRT) 3D renconstruction, and evaluate its clinical application in the diagnosis of spinal trauma. Material and Methods: There were 65 cases in this group. MSCT with volume rendering were performed in all cases. Then thin slice low and high constrast image were reconstructed. After that, all the source images were input into a 3D work station. High quality VRT-3D images of spinal trauma and after spinal internal fixation were obtained by selecting appropriate CT value. All the pictures were observed and analysed by two radiologist. Results: The optimal VRT images clearly showed alignment and displacement of fracture, and displayed space changes of spinal trauma. In observing spinal internal fixation with metal fixer, the optimal VRT images clearly showed the metal fixer and its surrounding structures. Conclusion: VRT-3D images of MSCT can directly, stereoscopically and multi-angularly show spinal trauma and after spinal internal fixation for the surgeons to decide clinical management.
