Abstract Objective: To obtain the cut-off value of the area of the pelvic diaphragmatic hiatus and analyze the correlation between the area and the severity degree of patients with pelvic organ prolapse(POP) and stress urinary incontinence(SUI). Methods: One hundred and seventy-eight women diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction were examined by real-time three-dimensional ultrasound of the perineum. The area of the pelvic diaphragmatic hiatus was measured, and the correlations of the area and the severity degree between POP and SUI were analyzed. Results: The cut-off area of the pelvic diaphragmatic hiatus in patients with POP was 25.5 cm2. Meanwhile, the correlation values between the severity degree of POP and SUI were 0.74 and 0.45 respectively. Conclusion: The cut-off value of pelvic diaphragmatic hiatus in patients with POP was available and the severity of POP was positively related to the area of the pelvic diaphragmatic hiatus obviously.
