Abstract：Objective: To evaluate the value of color power angioimaging(CPA) in thyroid tumors by studying the vascular pathology of the tumors. Methods: Thyroid tumors in sixty cases were examined preoperatively by CPA. Microvessel density(MVD) was calculated in surgical specimens after immunohistochemical staining using anti-factor CD34. Results: MVD in thyroid carcinomas(51.37±11.17) was higher than that in adenomas(21.32±7.95, P<0.05). MVD in CPA III of thyroid carcinomas(53.21±13.11) was higher than that in CPA II(36.11±7.92, P<0.05). The RI values of thyroid carcinomas and adenomas all were related positively to MVD(r=0.737, r=0.831, P<0.05). Conclusion: The degree of CPA, RI levels and MVD may provide important information for diagnosing and evaluating thyroid tumors.
