Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the value of ultrasonography in diagnosing achilles tendon rupture. Methods: Ultrasonographic findings in 32 patients with operatively proved acute achilles tendon rupture were analyzed. The manifestations of ultrasonography and operation were compared. Results: The achilles tendon rupture was diagnosed on ultrasonography in 32 cases. Achilles tendon complete rupture was showed in 27 cases, partial rupture in 5 cases. Ultrasonographic appearance of achilles tendon rupture displayed complete or partial discontinuation of the fibrous bundle. The operation has the same result as that of ultrasonography. Conclusion: Ultrasonography can accurately show the degree and portion of acute achilles tendon rupture, which is very helpful for treatment.
