Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the imaging capability of lipid ultrasound contrast agent in imaging and differentiating renal VX2 carcinoma. Methods: Fourteen rabbits with VX2 carcinoma of left kidney were scanned by fundamental imaging and second harmonic imaging(SHI) after bolus injection of lipid ultrasound contrast agent(Zhifuxian 0.02ml/kg). The contrast-enhanced effect was estimated with qualitative vision and quantification gray-scale value. Results: The tumor was enhanced 5s after injection of ultrasound agent and lasted for 10~15 minutes. As to the qualitative vision there was statistically significant before and after contrast-enhanced. There was remarkable difference between renal cortex and renal tumor in gray-scale value after injection ultrasound agent. Conclusion: Lipid ultrasound contrast agent can effectively enhance the imaging of renal tumors and improve the detection of specificity.
