Abstract:Objective: To assess the diagnostic value of the “crater” sign on coronary section by automated breast volume scanner(ABVS). Methods: Forty-six patients with 53 breast lesions confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively by ABVS. Results: In 53 lesions of the 46 patients, there were 26 benign lesions and 27 malignant lesions. In 27 malignant lesions, there were 25 solid tumors, 2 diffused lesions; 2 carcinomas in situ, 25 invasive carcinomas. There was 1 “crater” sign on coronary section among the 26 benign lesions, 3.8%; 13 “crater” signs on coronary section were found among 27 malignant lesions, 48.1%. The difference in positive rate of the “crater” sign between the benign lesions and malignant lesions was significant(P<0.001). Conclusion: The “crater” sign on coronary section by ABVS is useful for diagnosis of breast malignant disease.
