Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the MRI characteristics of parotid gland in Sjogren’s syndrome(SS). Materials and Methods: MRI features of parotid gland were studied in 22 patients with SS(Group A) and 21 controls without SS(Group B). Analyze the MRI features of parotid gland in each group, calculate the volume of each parotid gland, to summarize the MRI special manifestations of parotid gland in SS. Results: The typical MRI appearance of the parotid gland in group A was characterized by a loss of homogeneity in signal intensity on T1- and T2-weighted images with speckled to nodular structures in the parotid gland, some glands developed fatty degeneration. The mean volume of parotid gland in group A was smaller than that in group B. Conclusions: MRI of parotid gland with SS has typical appearance, and MRI can provide objective imaging evidence for diagnosing the disease.
