Abstract:Objective: To study the ultrasound and clinical diagnosis of single umbilical artery(SUA). Methods: 7623 pregnant women were examined by color Doppler ultrasound. If SUA was found, fetus was observed more carefully. Meantime, umbilical artery resistance indexs(RI) were measured, fetal weight was estimated. Results: Of the 7623 pregnant women, SUA was present in 10 cases, 5 of them were combined with fetal abnormality. RI enhancement was present in 3 of them. Lower fetal weight was present in 2 of them. All the diagnosis was confirmed by pathology. Conclusions: Ultrasonography can diagnose SUA correctly. SUA was relevant to many fetal abnormalities. A ultrasonic diagnostician should take more attention to umbilical cord vessels and SUA to give more message to clinical physicians.
