Abstract Objective: To investigate the value of MRI oblique coronal scan in diagnosis of the calcaneofibular ligament injury. Methods: MRI images of 95 patients with suspected CFL injury were analyzed retrospectively, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the diagnosis of CFL injure were calculated by oblique coronal scan and other position scan, analysis of the difference between oblique coronal scan and other position scan, analysis of the consistency with the surgery results by P value and Kappa value. Results: The oblique coronal scan and other position scan had statistical difference, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the diagnosis of CFL injure by oblique coronal scan and other position scan are: 93.1%, 97.3% and 94.7%, and the results were highly consistent with the operation. Conclusion: Oblique coronal MRI scan has greatly improved the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the diagnosis of CFL injury.
