Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the value of diffusion tensor tractography(DTT) in brain astrocytomas. Materials and Methods: Thirty-three patients with histologically confirmed astrocytomas underwent routine MRI, DTI, DTT, analyzing the changes of white matter fibres around the tumors and specific conditions in different grade of astrocytomas. Results: There is displacement of white matter fibres around tumors whether low-grade tumors or high-grade tumors(77.78%~100%). Disruption and interruption of white matter fibres around tumors are related to malignancy of astrocytomas. The higher the grade of tumor, the higher incidence rate of white matter disruption and interruption are(7.69%~72.73%). Conclusion: DTT plays an important role in revealing the grade of brain astrocytomas.
