Abstract:Objective: To investigate the enhancement mode and to evaluate the qualitative diagnosis of contrast-enhanced ultrasound of atypical liver abscess. Methods: The contrast-enhanced ultrasound features of 33 cases of atypical liver abscesses were compared with contrast-enhanced CT retrospectively. Results: The “Rosette sign”, “Honeycombing sign” and transient enhancement sign were found in atypical liver abscesses. The measurements of lesions could increase, diminish, or basically remain unchanged. The sensitivity, specificity and diagnosis accuracy of atypical liver abscesses were not statistically different between contrast-enhanced ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT(P>0.05). Conclusion: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound has higher value in the diagnosis of atypical liver abscesses, and combination with enhanced CT can improve the diagnostic accuracy significantly.
