Abstract:Objective: To explore the imaging characteristics of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection(TAPVC) in color Doppler echocardiography(CDE). Methods: Data of CDE in 16 patients with TAPVC confirmed by surgery were analyzed retrospectively. Result: The CDE characteristics were as follows: ①the pulmonary veins join to form a confluence channel that drains back to the RA rather than to the LA. ②In the supracardiac form of TAPVC it drains to the left vertical vein, to the innominate vein to the RSVC or drains to the SVC directly. In the intracardiac form of TAPVC it drains to the coronary sinus(CS). In the infracardiac form of TAPVC drains to the descending vertical vein, to the hepatic system. Mixed form of TAPVC occur in which the PV drains to two separate systemic venous sets(left vertical vein and CS). ③Right to left shunt at atrial level. Sixteen cases were accurately diagnosed by CDE imaging with the diagnostic accuracy rate of 100%, connection sites were correctly diagnosed 94%. Conclusion: CDE has important clinical value in detecting TAPVC.
