Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of breasts in post-menopausal women under hormone therapy(HT) by using ultrasonography and to evaluate its clinical value. Methods: During the post-menopausal and transition period, women were divided into two study groups, HT group and control group. Using ultrasonography to monitor the changes of glandular section thickness, breast duct width and breast structure in both breasts. Results: ①The breast glandular section thickness in the HT group has no significantly change. The breast glandular section thickness became thinner in the control group and there was a significant difference(P<0.01). ②The breast duct width had broadened in all groups(P<0.01). ③There was no obvious different in the breast structure between the HT group and control group. There is no obvious correlation between breast structure changes and mammary carcinoma. Conclusions: It seems that low dose HT has no obvious effect on occurences of mammary carcinoma at long-term. To monitor the breasts by ultrasound is a simple and reliable method during HT.
