Application of tissue Doppler Tei index together with ductus venous blood flow parameters in evaluation of right ventricular function of the fetus with tricuspid regurgitation

Abstract:Objective: To evalutate the right ventricular function of the fetuses with isolated tricuspid regurgitation using tissue Doppler Tei index together with ductus venous blood flow parameters. Methods: 253 fetuses from 20 to 41+6 weeks were divided into 3 groups, 165 fetuses without tricuspid regurgitation as the control group, 68 fetuses with mild tricuspid regurgitation as the mild regurgitation group, 20 fetuses with moderate tricuspid regurgitation as the moderate regurgitation group. Tissue Doppler imaging(TDI) technique was used to measure the isovolumic contraction time(ICT), isovolumic relaxation time(IRT) and ejection time(ET) of right ventricle in all fetuses. The S/A, resistence index(RI) and pulsation index(PI) of fetal ductus venous blood flow were also measured. Results: There were no significant differences in right ventricular Tei index, ICT+IRT, ET, and ductus venous blood flow parameters between the mild regurgitation group and the control group(P>0.05). The right ventricular Tei index, ICT+IRT, and ductus venous blood flow parameters of the moderate regurgitation group were higher than those of the control group and the mild regurgitation group(P<0.05). The ET of the moderate regurgitation group was lower than that of the control group and the mild regurgitation group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The right ventricular Tei index and ductus venous blood flow parameters can be used to evaluate the right ventricular function of the fetuses with tricuspid regurgitation, which can provide an important basis for clinical intervention.
