Abstract:Objective: To study the value of interventional therapy in pericardial effusion under CT guidance. Methods: Fifteen patients with pericardial effusion underwent CT-guided fluid aspiration and meanwhile 12 of them underwent central vein drainage tubes reservation. The final diagnosis that instructed drug treatment was got by examing the exfoliative cytology, biochemistry and tumor marker of the fluid simultaneously. Results: Among 15 cases, 2 cases had pericardial effusion derived from primarily malignant tumor of pericardium, 8 cases had secondary tumors of pericardium and 5 cases had tuberculosis of pericarditis. Eleven cases obtained complete remission, 2 partial remission and 1 stabilization. The efficacy rate was 100%. Conclusions: The interventional therapy after CT guidance on pericardial effusion mentioned above is a safe, accurate and effective method with high success rate, less complication.
