Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of neurolytic celiac plexus block(NCPB) and splanchnic nerve block(SNB) in treating superior abdominal cancer pain guided by CT. Methods: Forty-eight patients with intractable abdominal cancer pain were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups randomly, NCPB and SNB were performed. VAS, pain relief and complications were observed. Results: Immediate pain relief was noticed in all 48 patients after block. VAS, pain relief are all improved at different times. No significant deviation observed between the two groups. No severe complications occurred in this study. Conclusion: SNB has the same efficacy of NCPB and may be an alternative to celiac plexus blockade in patients with superior abdominal cancer pain.
