Abstract:Objective: To study the techniques of displaying adult inner ears with multi-slice spiral CT imaging of volume rendering and minimum intensity projection plus inversion imaging technique. Methods: Multi-slice spiral scanning with 0.625mm slice thickness, 50~80mm field of view and 0.25mm reconstruction interval was performed in 12 adult inner ears. The 3D imaging of volume rendering and minimum intensity projection plus invert were used. Results: The 3D imagings of volume rending and minimum intensity projection plus inversion imaging could clearly display the anatomic structure of inner ear. The inner nerve bunch of inner ear canal, vestibular nerve, cochlear nerve and facial nerve also could be seen. The operation of volume rendering was more complicated than the operation of minimum intensity projection plus inversion technique, especially for cochlear and vestibular imaging. But the 3D images of volume rendering was clearer. Conclusion: the 3D reconstruction with volume rendering and minimum intensity projection plus inversion technique can display the anatomic structures fully and precisely.
