Abstract:Objective: To establish the normative measuring method on reconstructed CT images of mandible for guiding the dental implant surgical procedure more accurately, the mandibular specimens were measured on reconstructed CT images and compared with the actual data of the specimens. Methods: Spiral CT(Siemens Somatom Spirit) was performed on 30 cases of mandible specimens which were numbered for scan, the normal coronal and sagittal images were reconstructed for measurement of some set line in molar region. Then the adjusted coronal and sagittal images were reconstructed according to the morphological structure of each specimen, and the same set line was measured again. The two series data obtained on two series of reconstructed CT images were compared with the actual data of mandibular specimens. Results: The data get from the adjusted coronal and sagittal reconstructed images were more accurate than that get from the normal coronal and sagittal reconstructed images. Conclusions: The adjusted coronal and sagittal reconstructed images were more useful for measurement of the set line on preoperative CT images in molar region to guide the dental implant surgical procedure.
