Abstract:Objective: To assess the role of computed tomography in the evaluation of fungal naso-sinusitis. Materials and Methods: The images and pathologic data of 18 patients with pathologically proved fungal naso-sinusitis were analysed. Results: The characteristic findings on the CT were as follows: ①The lesion on unilateral side was more commonly seen; ②The maxillary sinuses were infected more commonly than the other paranasal sinuses; ③Some calcifications inside the lesion with inhomogeneous density were seen; ④Destruction of bone with limited osteosclerosis. Conclusion: CT is helpful to distinguish between fungal naso-sinusitis and tumors located within paranasal sinus. There are noteworthy meaning in the diagnosis of position and the property of pathological changes in paranasal sinuses.
